Vienna: City Hotels and Accommodation
The city centre is located approximately 16 km / 10 miles to the north-west of Vienna International Airport (VIE) and contains many hotels. Much of the city's accommodation is situated in historic buildings and scattered around various districts and neighbourhoods. Hotel rates in Vienna are at their highest from April to October, and around the Christmas period, often dropping sharply outside of these seasons.
A range of reasonably priced hotels can be found in the Innere Stadt area, which encompasses Old Town Vienna and the bustling commercial centre. This part of the city also boasts an array of luxury hotels, which can be particularly expensive during the summer months, when demand is always high. Further lodging is sited along the surrounding streets, including a number of homely guest houses and pensions, often just a short distance from St. Stephan's Cathedral.
Those looking for a more secluded spot, close to Vienna's bustling city centre, should consider the neighbourhoods around the Ringstrasse, which include both the Josefstadt and Landstrasse districts. Accommodation in these areas has the advantage of being close to a range of attractions, parks and gardens, whilst being near to public transportation, including trams and underground trains.
